Advansta Inc. launches SpectraDye™
fluorescent secondary antibodies and antibody labeling kits
One-step fluorescent labeling of primary antibodies and pre-labeled secondary antibodies for all immunofluorescence applications
MENLO PARK, Calif. – February 2016 – Advansta Inc. announces the release of the SpectraDye™ line of antibodies and antibody labeling kits. Both are available with a range of fluorescent dyes for visible and near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence applications.
The SpectraDye labeling kits present a quick and easy way to generate fluorescently labeled primary antibodies for use in flow cytometry, Western blotting, and other immunofluorescence applicaltions. The protocol involves a one-step reaction and takes only 30 minutes. Using labeled primary antibodies for direct immunodetection can reduce noise and improve reproducibility in Western blots compared to indirect immunodetection. Also, a directly labeled primary antibody can be used across different platforms such as Western blotting, flow cytometry, and immunofluorescence microscopy to help validate results. Finally, labeled primary antibodies facilitate multiplexing because the antibodies used can be of any species source including the same species source. The SpectraDye line of labeling kits includes a version for labeling antibodies with user-supplied dye.
SpectraDye labeled secondary antibodies are available in a wide array of species specificities and fluorescent labels. For scientists with optimized primary antibodies, an appropriate fluorescent secondary antibody for any immunodetection experiment is sure to be found among the SpectraDye line. The SpectraDye secondary antibodies are compatible with Advansta’s WesternBright MCF system for multi-color fluorescent Westerns.
The SpectraDye antibodies and antibody labeling kits complement Advansta’s offerings for Western blotting. Advansta offers a suite of reagents for both visible and near-infrared fluorescent Western blot detection, including WesternBright™ MCF kits for multi-color fluorescent detection, low-auto fluorescence PVDF membranes, washing buffer formulated for infrared imaging, and background quenching sheets for imaging.
