Advansta Introduces WesternBright™ MCF
New complete system for multicolor fluorescent detection of Western blots
Menlo Park, CA, December 22, 2010 — Advansta Inc announces the release of WesternBright MCF, a complete system for fluorescent detection of protein immunoblots. Using secondary antibodies labeled with different fluorophores, fluorescent Western detection allows the assay of multiple proteins on a single blot. Two different phosphorylated isoforms of a protein can be studied simultaneously, for example, or a loading control can be detected on the same blot as a protein of interest without the need to strip and re-probe the blot. The WesternBright MCF kit includes all the materials necessary to conduct two-color blots, including secondary antibodies, buffers, pre-cut transfer membranes, and background absorbing sheets for imaging.
The fluorescent secondary antibody conjugates included with WesternBright MCF are labeled with phycobiliproteins, fluorophores that are brighter than, and provide greater sensitivity than, commonly used Cy™ dyes. Blots conducted with WesternBright MCF can be imaged using any equipment that detects Cy3 and Cy5. Additionally, the excitation and emission wavelengths of the WesternBright MCF dyes are compatible with the use of blue fluorescing dyes, enabling three-color blots for even more information from every experiment.
